How to track basketball stats (the easy way)

Stop losing stats to scoresheets and group chats. Here is how touch-first, event-based tracking works.

Most grassroots stats die at the buzzer — scribbled on a sheet, photographed, then forgotten. The fix is to capture each play as a structured event the instant it happens.

Because the box score is derived, not typed, fixing a mistake is a soft-delete and recompute — never a manual correction. And because the log is append-only, scoring works offline and simply replays when you reconnect.

With touch-first scoring you tap the court where a shot went up. HoopHub stores the event with a timestamp and court coordinates, so makes and misses place themselves on a shot chart and zones derive automatically.

The payoff: every player has a real, claimable record. Stats from one night roll into a HoopID that follows the player across every league and run they play.
